 Newborn Cocoon Unique Stitch

Using 5mm hook 8ply yarn

Made this pattern up, hope u can understand it :)
 

Row 1       3ch, make 11hdc, join (12hdc)

Row 2       3ch, 2hdc in each st til end, join (24hdc)

Row 3       3ch, *2hdc in next st, 1hdc in next st, *repeat til end, join

Row 4       3ch, *2hdc in next st, 1hdc in next 2 st, *repeat til end, join

Row 5       3ch, *2hdc in next st, 1hdc in next 3 st, *repeat til end, join

Row 6       3ch, *2hdc in next st, 1hdc in next 4 st, *repeat til end, join

start unique stitich now

Row 7       3ch, sc between 3 & 4th hdc, 3ch & sc in between every 3rd & 4th hdc post til end, join

Row 8       slip stitch yarn forward thru 3ch loop, 3ch & 2hdc in each 3ch loop til the end

Rows 7 & 8 make one unique stitch panel

Repeat row 7 & 8 to make 14 panels

Edging

Row of hdc, join

Row of sc, join

Row of picot stitch, 3ch spaces apart til end, join

And slip stitch, cut yarn and sew in ends.

Made beanie with 12hdc, 24hdc, 48hdc, then unique stitch the rest, diff size yarn and hooks makes different sizes.

Charity Use Pattern

Row 1     3ch, make 9dc (10dc) join

Row 2     3ch, *2dc in next st, 1 dc in next st, *repeat til end (30dc) join

Row 3     repeat row 2

Row 4     3ch, 2dc in next st, *1dc in next 2 st, 2dc in next st, * repeat til end (40dc) join

Row 5 to 7    3ch, 1dc in each st til end, join

Row 8     sc in each st til end, join 

Row 9     sc in each st til end, finish off with 3 slip st, cut lenght and sew in ends.

ch5, hdc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in the next 3 st, 4hdc in the last st, (do not turn, continue around)

hdc in the next 3 sts, 1hdc in first st. sl st to join. (this creates the body)

ch6 sc in 1st from hook and each ch along to end, sc in same st the chains started on (this creates the tail, continue working around the body), ch3, sc in same st as last sc, sl, sl, sc, ch3, sc same as sc, (feet completed) sl, sl, ch9, 2hdc 2nd hook, 2dc next, 1hdc, sl, 4sc, rings back to main body, skip 1 st, sl to next, sl to start of tail. Finish off and weave in ends.

Eye can be a small button, fabric paint or stitched with yarn or embroidery thread.

Using a 3.5mm hook and 4 ply yarn (makes 2cm bootie)

 

 

Row 1, ch2, 11hdc into first loop (12hdc) join

Row 2, ch2, *1hdc in next  2st, 2hdc in next st, *repeat twice, 1hdc in next st, 2hdc in last st,

 (16hdc) join

Row 3, ch2, 1hdc each st til the end (16hdc) join

Row 4 & 5, repeat row 3.

Row 6, 2ch, 1hdc in the next 11 st then turn work (12hdc)

Row 7 & 8 repeat row 6. then slip stitch and cut yarn.

To make tie for bootie, ch 28 then attach ch to 1st at top rear of bootie then carefully sc across top of bootie til the other end, ch28 and snip and tie off.

 

You can make booties to any size by changing yarn and hook size. Can be two-toned or plain.
